Support for the Establishment of Professorship in Korean Studies

Led by: Philip Thai

This generous grant from the Korea Foundation will seed a tenure-track professorship in Korean Studies at Northeastern. The position would be the very first in the history of university and marks an important step towards developing urgently needed expertise in a critical part of the world. Fostering a better understanding of Korea will be essential to realize Northeastern’s goal of uncovering effective solutions to global challenges in health, security, and sustainability. CSSH will run a search for a scholar of Modern Korean History in the fall of 2026 with an anticipated start date in the fall of 2027.
