Cassidy Loft

MA in Public History

Originally from Genoa, Illinois Cassidy graduated from St. Lawerence University with a BA in History and African studies and a minor in Education. During her undergrad she interned at both the National Museums of Kenya and the Library of Congress. At the Library of Congress she worked on the project “Uncovering Poetry in African Languages” to develop the first research database on African Poetry, surveying large collections for terms related to African Poetry, producing LighteningTalks, and writing blog posts all published on the Library’s website. Cassidy went on to produce an honors thesis on the public history of Kenya and its intertwining presentation with the country’s developing government. This work sparked an interest in researching and sharing hidden histories, the stories of those often forgotten.
