2024 CSSH Outstanding Staff Awards

The College of Social Sciences and Humanities is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 CSSH Outstanding Staff Awards. These awards began in 2016, and this year’s winners will be recognized at the Faculty and Staff Celebration on Wednesday, April 10, 3:00 – 4:30 pm on the 8th floor of the EXP Building.

Helen Chong

Associate Director of College Research Administration, Research Administration & Development

With over a decade of experience in grant management, Helen Chong’s dedication, availability, and expertise has played a role in the continued growth in external research funding for CSSH faculty, fostering interdisciplinary opportunities for students. Beyond her professional achievements, Helen’s warmth and approachability create a supportive environment where colleagues and students thrive. Known for her dedication and mentorship, she also invests personal time to guide junior faculty and graduate students through grant proposals. Helen’s unique blend of wit, pragmatism, and authenticity, combined with her commitment to excellence and genuine care for others, make her an invaluable asset to the community in CSSH.
Nancy Hutchins

Administrative Officer, Department of Philosophy & Religion

Nancy Hutchins is the embodiment of dedication, helpfulness, and warmth. Beyond her adept creation of standard operating procedures and meticulous coordination of interdisciplinary searches, Nancy’s humor and genuine care resonate deeply. Her thoughtful gestures, like crafting promotion materials for faculty with bound copies and a personal touch, reflect her unwavering commitment to faculty support and above-and-beyond work. Nancy’s exceptional blend of efficiency, kindness, organization, and camaraderie enriches the Department of Philosophy and Religion and CSSH community alike, making her a beloved cornerstone deserving of this esteemed recognition.
Jason Riccio

Associate Director of Undergraduate Academic Advising, Office of Student Academic Affairs

Heather Stellberger

Assistant Director of Academic Advising & Support, Office of Student Academic Affairs

Heather Stellberger’s time at Northeastern University exemplifies her commitment student success. Heather’s deep knowledge of CSSH and Northeastern, coupled with her exceptional leadership skills, has left an indelible mark on the advising team. Described by a student as “the cheerleader that keeps you going through your hardest seasons,” Heather is recognized for her tireless efforts in developing resources, facilitating trainings, and providing unparalleled support to students, staff, and faculty. Following her recent promotion to Assistant Director, Heather continues to lead with excellence, driving innovation and advocating for the CSSH community.
