Endnotes: June 2023 Newsletter

Endnotes is a regular feature of the CSSH newsletter that lists accomplishments of our faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, alumni, and other members of our CSSH community.

Undergraduate

  • Andrew Small (Asian Studies ’23), Saoirse McNally (Human Services and Criminal Justice ’23), and Zaneta Sulley (Criminal Justice and Sociology ’22) won Fulbright Scholarships.
  • Kira Mok (Sociology and Environmental Studies ’23) received the 2022 CSSH Ruth E. Sullivan Award in recognition of her interdisciplinary research.
  • Amara Ifeji (Political Science ’24) won a Truman Scholarship and a Sears B. Condit Award, which provides a scholarship for outstanding scholastic achievement.
  • Kathryn Oliver (Cultural Anthropology ’23) received one of nine 2022 Compass Awards, which recognize true dedication to a core set of values: leadership, volunteerism, academic integrity, and commitment to Northeastern.
  • Chantel Haigler (American Sign Language and Psychology ’22) received the Marion Taylor Scholarship.

The following CSSH students were named to the Huntington 100, which honors outstanding students whose achievements are commensurate with the university’s mission, ideals, values, and academic plan:

  • Oriana Dominguez (Human Services and Sociology ’23) and Ryan Wallace (Political Science ’23) received Outstanding CSSH Co-op Awards.
  • Megha Prasad (Political Science and Business Administration ’23) received the CSSH Excellence in Work to Foster Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) Award
  • Emerson Johnston (History, Culture, and Law, and Politics, Philosophy, and Economics ’22) received a Knight-Hennessy Scholarship
  • Grayson Peel (Cultural Anthropology ’23) and Helen Wang (International Affairs and Linguistics ’23) received Critical Language Scholarship

Graduate

  • Justin Haner (Political Science PhD ’23) was awarded Northeastern’s Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Humanics.
  • Sarah Lockwood (Criminology and Justice Policy PhD ’23) was awarded Northeastern’s Outstanding Graduate Student Award in Research.
