Ashley Adams

Dr. Ashley Adams is academically and professionally experienced in community services and development, public affairs, policy studies, nonprofit management, student services and leadership, preservation policy and planning, and more. Her research efforts sit at the intersection of reparative preservation, digital humanities, community engagement, and institutional practice. Dr. Adams’ most recent paper “Descendant-Led Work as Preservation from the Margins” featured in Planning Theory & Practice in the Interface “Outsider Preservation: The Practice Beyond Rules and Lists,” introduces the Nicodemus Rubric, a practical framework for reparative preservation and descendant engagement in marginalized communities. Beyond her scholarship, Dr. Adams serves as President of the Nicodemus Historical Society, sits on the Board of Directors for the Outsider Preservation Initiative, and holds multiple advisory and leadership roles dedicated to community-centered efforts.
