Information Ethics

We take a human-centered approach to AI, robotics, and data analytics that integrates social and ethical awareness into technology design and implementation in order to realize the enormous potential that these technologies have for improving people’s lives in just and sustainable ways.

Information Ethics at Northeastern

Information ethics encompasses the social and ethical issues associated with all forms and aspects of information and computing technologies, including data collection/use, artificial intelligence, machine learning, social networks, robotics, and more. Northeastern is committed to developing technologies that are accessible and empowering, that promote justice and the social good, and that do so in ways that protect people’s privacy and autonomy. This commitment is manifest in the work done in our research centers, in our robust information ethics curriculum, and in our co-curricular and outreach programs.
