The Digital Integration Teaching Initiative (DITI) is now accepting new faculty partnerships for the summer and fall 2021 semesters. Northeastern has committed to better teaching our undergraduates the digital tools, skills, and methods that will enable them to be successful in today’s world. The DITI was established to help CSSH faculty to meet this goal. We collaborate with faculty across CSSH disciplines to help integrate digital methods and skills in a wide range of classes. This Call for Partnerships is your chance to enlist our help to enhance your course with digital skills.
We know that it might be difficult under the current circumstances to begin thinking about next semester, but in order to successfully plan for summer and fall 2021 partnerships, we request that interested faculty partners:
- Fill out the DITI call for partnerships form by April 1, 2021: http://bit.ly/dti-CFPartnerships. You do not need to know all the details of your course to fill out the survey.
- Meet with us for an initial consultation by May 15, 2021 to confirm basic information (course logistics, module objectives, and so on)
Once you fill out the intake form, we will contact you to schedule a consultation, where we will discuss the details of your course and develop a partnership plan. We will also send information on how you can reserve a week or weeks for the DITI team to visit your class(es). We want to note that weeks at the beginning and the middle of the semester are historically more popular for class visits and that we allocate our visits on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, if you are interested in those weeks, we recommend that you schedule a consultation with us and reserve the dates you are interested in as early as possible.
You can learn more about this program at our website: https://cssh.northeastern.edu/nulab/program/diti/#_ga=2.207792538.902717316.1617814333-326856015.1604332309, where you will find information on how the initiative has progressed, view various sample courses, and read our faculty guidelines.
The DITI team is thrilled with the growth of this initiative over the past two years. In order to continue to develop high-quality partnerships with our limited resources, we are diversifying the ways we work with faculty. First, for partnerships that will involve multi-class or semester-long assignments, you will be working closely with DITI members as we have done in the past. Second, DITI is very excited to be collaborating with the Northeastern University Library on partnering with faculty members. Depending on your course’s needs, the team may bring on or refer you to library staff experts. Third, if multiple faculty request the same one-day workshop, we may explore ways to offer the workshop to multiple classes at the same time. We appreciate your openness to diverse ways of teaching our students digital literacies.
If you have questions at all, please contact Milan Skobic (skobic.m@northeastern.edu), Assistant Director of the Digital Integration Teaching Initiative.
We hope to hear from you!
