Katherine Duggan

Associate Director of Research Development

As Associate Director of Research Development in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities, Kate Duggan provides a range of support to CSSH researchers, including identifying promising funding opportunities, connecting them with grant related resources, and facilitating the development of competitive research grant proposals. She also advises CSSH researchers in their pursuit of internal research funding, including building a strategy for leveraging this funding into external awards. Kate has supported proposal writing, editing, and strategy for submissions to a wide variety of federal and private funders, including NEH, NEA, IMLS, DOD, DOC, DOJ, DOI, NIH, NSF, and NARA. She has a particular interest in designing data-informed research strategies and in research development process improvement.

Kate is an active member of the National Organization of Research Development Professionals (NORDP), serving as a Northeast Region co-representative and member of the Member Services and Conference Planning Committees. She is also a founding member of the Creative Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH) Affinity Group.

Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and French and Francophone Studies from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Master of Education degree from Northeastern’s College of Professional Studies. Prior to joining CSSH & Northeastern, Kate spent 11 years at Brown University in research administration, postdoctoral program support, and research strategy and development.
