Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program, Massachusetts Statewide Research Partner

Led by: Eric Piza

The Northeastern University / University of Pennsylvania Crime and Justice Policy Lab will serve as the Massachusetts Statewide Research Partner (SRP) for the Byrne State crisis Intervention Program, which invests federal funds in crisis intervention and gun violence prevention efforts throughout the state. The SRP work plan is designed around the three key areas identified in the Availability of Grant funds solicitation: 1) providing strategic advice and technical assistance on evidence-based policies and practices, 2) ensuring the fidelity of implemented SCIP programs, and 3) developing monitoring systems to aid implementation integrity. The research team will work alongside SCIP stakeholders in each community to improve program implementation and outcomes. This will involve developing and collecting reliable and valid measures across sites given the varying programs that may be implemented (ERPOs, CITs, other prevention / intervention efforts).
