Katie (Elliot) Bruce graduated in May 2017 with a BA in Human Services, and a minor in American Sign Language and Global Social Entrepreneurship. Katie has done two co-ops abroad, one in South Africa working with refugees and one in Cambodia working with university women. She has also studied in Zambia for four months while volunteering at a primary school working in a classroom with Deaf children. She is especially passionate about socioemotional health of youth with disabilities or other disadvantages and providing equal opportunities with young people, to help them reach their full potential. At Northeastern she was a student of Rebecca Riccio’s Strategic Philanthropy and Nonprofit Management course, among a wide variety of other Human Services courses. She also interned at Doc Wayne Youth Services, doing sports therapy for children with social and emotional challenges at various schools in the Boston area.
Katie is now the Family Intervention Specialist at Youth Villages.
