Swati Joshi

Economics and Mathematics, BS
Computer Science minor

Graduated in 2020

During Swati Joshi’s second year at Northeastern, she wasn’t sure that she wanted to be an economics major anymore. A conversation with Professor Imke Reimers changed her mind. Professor Reimers shared her own experience and journey with Swati and explained what the graduate school experience might look like and the process of applying to PhD programs. This gave Swati the motivation she needed to continue her path in the field of economics.

Swati’s Path

“One of my highlights at Northeastern has been my involvement in the Fed Challenge.  I had the opportunity to lead the team in analyzing our current economic state and creating a proposal advising the Fed what they should do about rates. Not only has it given me the opportunity to get close to my amazing faculty advisor, Nancy Kimelman, but we also got to present at the Boston Fed, which is every Econ student’s dream!”

After graduation, Swati was hired as a Research Assistant at The Brookings Institution. She then went on to pursue a Ph.D. in economics.
