Travis Haigler (he/him, they/them) chose Northeastern University because it was one of the few East Coast colleges that offered an American Sign Language program, while still giving him opportunities to explore other interests. Travis is an American Sign Language and Psychology combined major and holds three minors in Spanish, Film Production, and Human Services. Since their sister graduated from Northeastern in 2010, they were familiar with the university and knew it would support their interdisciplinary academic interests.

“Northeastern connected me with very cool like-minded, but different-interested people. What I mean by that is having people who want to change the world in some way and who have perfected their craft and their area in which they want to do. So having lunch with computer science people, international relations people, and students studying economics was really cool—meeting people who are passionate about their craft that I never would’ve met otherwise.”
