“The Road to Opportunities: Creating Horizontal and Vertical Pathways through Partnerships for Disconnected Youth”

Spring 2015

Alison (Political Science and International Affairs) is working with Professor Barboza (African American Studies and Criminal Justice) to explore the efficacy of partnerships between community-based organizations and employers in creating horizontal and vertical pathways to increase educational and vocational opportunities for high school dropouts. She is collecting qualitative and quantitative data and using a systems framework to perform a rigorous analysis and create benchmarks that disconnected youth need to reach desired outcomes. This project will result in a research paper with strategic suggestions for addressing the needs of disconnected youth.
