Ready, you aim your skis across the slope and break trail towards one of your favorite stashes just below tree-line — think pillow lines and knee-deep pow. You and a buddy lap the spot as many times as you can before exhaustion hits.

In this theoretical bliss, every moment is a product of an extensive network of weather data. And yes, all the data is at risk. Project 2025 proposes to dismantle a key backbone to avalanche forecasting — the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration or NOAA.
