Professor Aggarwal is Deputy Dean and Professor of Finance at the D’Amore-McKim School of Business at Northeastern University. He was previously on the faculty at the University of Minnesota, University of Virginia, University of Michigan, Oxford University, and Dartmouth College. He received his BA in Economics from Yale University and his PhD in Business Economics (Finance) from Harvard University. Professor Aggarwal’s current research interests cover all aspects of corporate finance including corporate governance, the economics of organizations, optimal capital structure, bankruptcy, executive compensation, initial public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, boards of directors, hedge fund performance evaluation, securities fraud, and stock market manipulation. His research has been published in top finance and economics journals, such as the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Finance, and the Journal of Financial Economics. He has received the MBA Elective Lecturer of the Year award from the Said Business School at Oxford University, and twice been named Most Outstanding Full-time MBA Elective Faculty Member at the University of Minnesota. Other recent honors include the Progress Investment Management Company Best Research Prize for his work on emerging hedge fund managers, the Graham and Dodd Scroll Award from the Financial Analysts Journal, the China International Conference in Finance Best Paper Award, the Financial Research Association Best Discussant Award, and the Review of Financial Studies Distinguished Referee Award. He advises on securities litigation matters, and he currently serves as Chair of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors of Medica Health Plans.

Professor Catalina Herrera Almanza, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, specializes in the confluence of Development Economics, Demography, Gender, Health, and Education Economics. She earned her Ph.D. in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University. Her research uniquely integrates multiple disciplines, providing insightful perspectives on developmental and economic issues. Prof. Herrera Almanza is affiliated with professional organizations such as the American Economic Association, Population Association of America, Population and Poverty Research Network (PopPOV), and the American Agricultural and Applied Economics Association, reflecting her broad engagement in the field.
