The registration opened on July 1st and ended on October 15th, 2024.

There is no on-site registration.

Registration for general faculty and business is $300.

Registration for all students, post-docs, residents of low- and lower-middle-income countries (LMICs), and faculty at community colleges and historically Black colleges and universities is $250.

The registration fee includes breakfast, lunch, coffee/tea, and appetizers on Saturday, and breakfast and coffee/tea on Sunday.

Travel Logistics

The conference location was the ISEC and EXP buildings, Northeastern’s newest state-of-the-art research centers located adjacent to each other on Columbus Avenue and next to the Ruggles T Station.

Please arrive at least 30 minutes before any scheduled activity.

Take the MBTA subway Green Line “E” service to the Northeastern University stop or the Orange Line service to the Ruggles stop. Additional public transportation options can be found on the MBTA website.

From Logan Airport

Exit Logan Airport and follow the signs to I-90 West. Take exit 22, toward Prudential Center/Copley Square. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Prudential Center, and merge onto Huntington Avenue. Continue on Huntington Avenue; ISEC and EXP are located near the intersection with Columbus Avenue, adjacent to Ruggles Station.

From Route 128 or I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike)

Take Route 128 to the Mass Pike East. Take exit 22, toward Prudential Center/Copley Square. Keep left at the fork for Prudential Center, merging onto Huntington Avenue. Continue straight to reach Northeastern University’s ISEC and EXP, which are located near the intersection with Columbus Avenue, adjacent to Ruggles Station.

From Route 2

Follow Route 2 East toward Cambridge. It changes from a major highway to a four-lane thoroughfare. Continue on Route 2 East which becomes Concord Avenue, then Cambridge Street, and finally turns into River Street after crossing the Charles River. Follow River Street until it becomes Massachusetts Avenue. Continue on Massachusetts Avenue and turn right onto Huntington Avenue. ISEC and EXP will be on your right just past Ruggles Station.

From the North – Routes 95, 1, or 93

Follow Route 95 South to Route 1 South or take Route 93 South directly. From Route 1, continue onto Route 93 South. From Route 93 South, take exit 18 for Massachusetts Avenue/Roxbury. Merge onto Melnea Cass Boulevard. Turn left onto Tremont Street, then right onto Ruggles Street. Continue straight; ISEC and EXP will be on your right, near Ruggles Station.

From the South – Routes 93, 1, or 3

Follow Routes 93/1/3 North to the Mass Pike West (towards Worcester). Take exit 22 toward Prudential Center/Copley Square. Keep left at the fork, follow signs for Prudential Center, and merge onto Huntington Avenue. Continue on Huntington Avenue. ISEC and EXP will be on your right just past Ruggles Station.

Note: For the most current and accurate directions, please consider using a real-time navigation system to account for any possible road closures or traffic conditions.

Northeastern University is conveniently located just a few miles from Boston’s Logan International Airport.

A taxi or rideshare from the airport typically takes 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs approximately $30-$40. Simply request to be dropped off at the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Tremont Street, near the Ruggles Station entrance to Northeastern.

Public Transportation:
From the Airport to Northeastern University:

  • Take the free MBTA Silver Line bus (SL1) from any terminal at Logan Airport to South Station.
  • At South Station, transfer to the Orange Line subway towards Oak Grove.
  • Get off at Ruggles Station, which is directly adjacent to the ISEC and EXP buildings.

The entire subway ride will cost $2.40 if you have a CharlieCard or $2.90 with a CharlieTicket and takes about 30-35 minutes.

If you are renting a car or driving yourself from the airport, please follow the directions provided in the “By Car” section under “From Logan Airport.”

Childcare will not be provided by the conference organizers. We recommend using Care.com to find local options. If you are in need of childcare during the event, please contact the organizing team at neudc@northeastern.edu.

On Saturday, attendees will be offered breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch, and appetizers during the social hour. On Sunday, the conference will begin with breakfast and include a coffee break. Please refer to the conference agenda for specific times.

Unfortunately, we are unable to promise any subsidies or grants at this point. However, all LMIC-based researchers who are accepted to present a political economy and governance-focused paper at NEUDC will be automatically considered for a grant to cover their travel and other conference expenses through J-PAL’s Governance Initiative. More broadly, if you need a travel subsidy, please let us know by emailing neudc@northeastern.edu, and we will reach out to you if any additional funding becomes available. As a reminder, if you are a resident of an LMIC, you can make use of the discounted registration.
