This month, Northeastern University welcomed 1,200 students from more than 90 countries to the Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) to discuss and develop innovative solutions to pressing global challenges with Bill and Chelsea Clinton, faculty, and global experts.
At the School of Public Policy and Urban Affairs, we are extremely proud that the Social Impact Lab (SIL) and Northeastern Students4Giving (NS4G) were so well represented at CGI U. Last spring, SIL was instrumental in recruiting and coaching over 250 Northeastern students through the CGI U application process. Several SIL and NS4G students were accepted, including Dayna Altman, who created a documentary about healing from sexual violence; Vanessa Cohen for a toolkit to improve underprivileged preschool curriculum; and Martha Neuman as part of a team committed to conflict resolution and peaceful interfaith dialogue. SIL Director Rebecca Riccio was one of two Northeastern faculty members invited to moderate a panel at the event. Her panel focused on strategies for effective monitoring and evaluation to assess project impact.
