Welcome to Doron Friedman

Professor Doron Friedman

This fall we welcomed to campus Dr. Doron Friedman, a fabulous instructor in both Hebrew and Environmental Studies.  Born and raised in Israel, Friedman attended Haifa University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate in Biology and a Master’s degree in Geography, with a strong emphasis on computerization, technology, and the use of statistics.  He received his doctorate in Education from Argosy University in 2013.  He has taught for many years, including ten in Israel as a science teacher focusing on environmental and conservation issues while working for the Israeli Nature Reserve Authority and over eleven teaching Hebrew in the United States, at the University of California-Santa-Cruz and the Defense Language Institute.

Friedman is putting both aspects of his background to work at Northeastern.  He is teaching Hebrew at multiple levels, and his creative efforts to enliven his students’ experiences through use of authentic items from multiple media, such as audio, video, and texts from news and magazine sources have earned his courses rave reviews.  In the spring semester, he will also be offering an intriguing new course on “Ecology in War and Peace:  Sustainability in the Middle East,” which will connect topics in ecology and the environment to the contemporary geographic, social, and political situation of the Middle East.

Please join us in welcoming Doron Friedman to Northeastern.
