Northeastern University recently announced the winners of the 2024-25 Outstanding Teaching Awards, including NULab Faculty Jessica Linker and Carolin Fuchs. Below is an excerpt from the College of Social Sciences and Humanities post.
“Professor Linker’s teaching and impact is remarkable both for its breadth and depth. She applies her interdisciplinary, student-centered, experiential approaches to course work including early America, the history of science and technology, women and gender, the history of the book, and the digital humanities. In addition to innovative classroom approaches that bring students to the forefront of technology and the archival wealth of the Boston area, Professor Linker mentors research projects and fosters opportunities for students to explore and share their work in research networks at the university and beyond. Professor Linker says, “I imagine all of my students as successful” and, with her intensive support, they are.”
“Carolin Fuchs is an exceptional teacher, whose innovative pedagogy is made even more effective by her ability to adapt to the ever-changing environment (from remote learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic to AI). Carolin is innovative and inclusive in her teaching and has made impressive contributions to the German Program by integrating virtual exchange from peer-to-peer exchanges to intergenerational dialogues with older adults in Germany in her courses. She has also worked in CSSH to promote collaborations across digital spaces and the use of AI for learner autonomy.”
