Douglass Day 2025
A transcribe-a-thon, an event honoring the life and birthday of Frederick Douglass.
This event is co-hosted with the Digital Scholarship Group, the Archives and Special Collections, and the Women Writers Project. This event is part of Black History Month and Love Data week.

Grounding Archival Knowledge: Maawn Doobiigeng in the Library
Panelists: Dr. Gordon Henry, Anne Heidemann, and Melissa Isaac
The Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Libraries worked with community members to create a new classification system, Maawn Doobiigeng (Gather Together). Attendees will learn about the process of creating this new system, how it is being implemented, and how it is being used by staff and patrons. There will be a breakfast viewing of this event at a location to be determined on campus in Oakland, CA.

Revealing the Unseen: How Art and Augmented Reality Expose Hidden Histories
Featuring: Discussion between Kija Lucas and augmented reality creator Damien McDuffie, moderated by Oakland Museum of California Deputy Director Makeda Best. Event will be followed by a catered reception.
This is a Jane Green Endowed Lecture in Visual Culture, in conjunction with the Mills College Art Museum exhibition, Kija Lucas: Hidden Histories.

Expressive Art Therapy Workshop
Led by: Marina Strauss, LMHC, Expressive Art Therapist and adjunct Human Services Faculty
Take time in community to draw upon your creativity with prompts and guidance. Art supplies and light refreshments provided. There will be a co-event led by Suzanne Schmidt held at the Makerspace on Campus in Oakland, CA.
