Jacob Balzarini

Criminology and Justice Policy, PhD

Jacob Balzarini is a PhD student in Northeastern University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. His work bridges research, teaching, and community engagement—focusing on the timing and structure of incarceration and the complexities of reentry. Currently, Jacob works alongside Dr. Megan Denver as a research assistant within the Shannon Community Safety Initiative, contributing to efforts aimed at reducing violence and improving public safety through evidence-based strategies. Outside of research, Jacob is actively involved in correctional education. He teaches a Domestic Relations course at the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office in Dedham, Massachusetts, where he supports rehabilitation through legal education for incarcerated individuals. He holds both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island.
