Tiffany Cruz
English PhD Student
Tiffany Cruz is a Ph.D. student in the English Department at Northeastern University, specializing in people of color in nineteenth-century British literature. She authored and designed an illuminated manuscript book titled “Maidens in the Moorlands: Black Women in 19th-Century British Literature,” which analyzes The Woman of Colour by an anonymous author and The Blood of the Vampire by Florence Marryat. Tiffany has presented at several conferences, including the panel on Gothic literature, film, and culture at the Popular Culture Association Conference, the Remaking the Past panel at the Nineteenth Century Studies Association Conference, and annually at VirtualJaneCon. She is also a research assistant for Northeastern’s Mapping Black London project, focusing on the nineteenth century. She is passionate about amplifying the voices of those from the past and bringing them to life in the present. Tiffany is a member of the United Confederation of Taino People.
