More than 30 students, faculty, and members of the CRJ Community Advisory Board came together on Saturday, November 22, for a hands-on community service project supporting Concord Prison Outreach (CPO). The group assembled holiday gift bags that will be distributed across Massachusetts state prison facilities as part of CPO’s annual effort to prepare roughly 3,500 bags each year. This was the first time Northeastern University served as an official assembly site, making the day especially meaningful.
The event was hosted at the John D. O’Bryant African American Institute Cabral Center and sponsored by the Center on Crime, Race, and Justice and Concord Prison Outreach. The project was guided by Lisa Laguerre, Director of Community Engagement for CRJ, and Mr. Sam Williams, Executive Director of Concord Prison Outreach and Co-Director of the CRJ Community Advisory Board. Their leadership helped create a space for service, reflection, and connection.
It was a wonderful gathering of people committed to community support during the holiday season.
