On July 26th, eight years of research and five years of fundraising by Professor Richard Wamai culminated in the opening of a new research center and clinic in Chemolingot Sub-County Hospital, Kenya. This new center will treat patients suffering from leishmaniasis – a disease that kills 20,000 each year. The opening of this center not only represents a huge improvement in the care of rural patients who previously would have to travel up to 200 miles for treatment, but an important step in policy change. Read more about this disease and about Professor Wamai’s research here.
