The major’s objective is to prepare the next generation of intellectual pioneers and practitioners capable of analyzing the multiple ways in which History, Culture and Law intersect domestically and globally. Legal processes, norms and institutions do not develop in a vacuum. Consequently, our students will explain how historic and cultural developments shape, influence, establish, and play a critical role in reforming legal processes, customs and codes. Students will develop their analytic skills by critically examining and researching legal processes, legal traditions and norms, human rights, social justice, and the evolution of law-related organizations through a humanistic lens.
