TeχnēCon 2024

Tech Ethics eXchange NorthEast (teχnē), a collaboration between Social and Ethical Responsibilities of Computing at MIT, The Ethics Institute at Northeastern University, and The Edmond and Lily Safra Center for Ethics and Embedded EthiCS @ Harvard University, is pleased to announce the second TeXneCON, an interdisciplinary conference on research and teaching on the ethics of technology.

TeχnēCON brings together educators and researchers to foster collaboration and exchange on issues related to the ethics and philosophy of computing. The conference aims to showcase foundational and translational research, pedagogy, and practice.

TeχnēCON 2024 will be held at Northeastern University Boston campus on July 26-27, 2024. 

We are now accepting abstract submissions for TeχnēCON 2024. You may submit an abstract of 750 words or less by accessing the link below.

TeχnēCON 2024 will feature Keynotes from:
  • Regina Rini
    Canada Research Chair in Philosophy of Moral and Social Cognition
  • Shannon Vallor
    Baillie Gifford Chair in the Ethics of Data and Artificial Intelligence at the Edinburgh Futures Institute (EFI) at the University of Edinburgh
  • James Mickens
    Professor of Computer Science at the Harvard School of Engineering & Applied Sciences
The Technology Ethics eXchange of the NorthEast (teχnē) invites submissions of extended abstracts for an interdisciplinary conference on research and teaching on the ethics of technology, to be hosted at Northeastern on July 26-27, 2024.
Potential topics for submissions include but are not limited to:
  • Philosophical research on AI ethics, the ethics of computing, or the ethics of technology generally
  • Social research on the impacts of technologies
  • Interdisciplinary research in responsible computing and responsible technology development
  • Scholarship on educational initiatives in responsible computing and STEM ethics, such as courses, modules, workshops, or masterclasses
  • Pedagogical reports of success stories, challenges, and strategies for teaching ethics to students in technology-focused concentrations

The abstract submission deadline is April 15th, 2024 at 11:59pm (anywhere in the world).
TeχnēCON 2024 presentations will be in-person at the Northeastern in Boston. Attendees may join in person or virtually.
