For those of you in class, we hope you had a wonderful last day of classes and wish you good luck on your final exams. We’re excited for some new volunteer opportunities next semester, and we’ll keep you posted about meeting information for the spring! Information for ongoing events is listed below.
STEM majors needed for education volunteering!
The Northeastern chapter of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, is starting a science education program, “Think Like a Scientist!”, for schools in the Boston area. Using story-centered, activity-based curriculum, they plan to represent the diverse world of research and make a career in science easier to envision for younger students. Lessons will take place at four local centers from January – April focusing on different areas of research. They will include fun activities such as making slime or building spaghetti marshmallow towers. If you’re interested learning more or becoming a mentor, visit the website and fill out the mentor application form – the December 20th end date for recruitment is swiftly approaching, so don’t miss out!
Relay for Life
Signups are open for Northeastern Relay for Life. The registration fee will go up as it gets closer to the event, so signing up early is best! Feel free to join our team by adding yourself to Human Services Organization when you sign up.
