Is cooking your emotional outlet? Then you will be in the right company with Dayna Altman, BHS’15, MPH’18, author of the new cookbook, “Bake it Till You Make it: Breaking Bread, Building Resilience.”

Each recipe in the book is paired with powerful stories of overcoming hardships – from a woman who mourns a personal loss through baking, to an injured athlete navigating depression by reaching out to others. This unique combination deliberately joins the comfort of food with the complex issue of mental health.

Dayna believes that food is something that unifies us and is easy to talk about. Whether it is the lack of mental health terminology, or resources that may make conversations on this subject feel intimidating, there is a place for everyone around the table at this workshop which aims to make this topic more palatable and accessible in our community.
