Fulbright Visiting Scholar Holds Talk at Northeastern

People in this story

Even in the heat of the war between Israel and Gaza, on October 25, 2023, the Department of Political Science took the lead in sponsoring a lecture on peace initiatives in the Middle East and their future prospects. Featured speaker political scientist Professor Mohsine Al Ahmadi hails from Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakesh, Morocco. Invoking the recent U.S. brokered bilateral agreements between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan and his native Morocco, Professor El Ahmadi – a Fulbright Visiting Scholar – addressed the question “Is There an Ibrahim Behind the Abraham Accords?”  (Lecture subtitle:  “Morocco, Jews, Israel, and America.”)  Since Ibrahim and Abraham – founding figures in Islam and Judaism – are actually one and the same, Prof. El Ahmadi maintained that Muslims and Jews are cousins, a theological perspective too often overlooked by participants in and analysts of the Mideast conflict.
