Master of Arts in Political Science

The Master of Arts program focuses on the core scholarly areas of political science. Courses in the MA program serve as a foundation for work in a doctoral program or as preparation for careers in government, nonprofit organizations, or related work in the private sector. Students specialize in one of five concentration areas.

Learning Outcomes

The Security and Resilience Studies Certificate is available to current Master of Arts in Political Science students. In order to apply for the certificate program, current students should fill out an Internal Admission Notification Form. Since some courses are only offered during certain semesters, we encourage students considering this path to apply early on during their MA program. The requirements for the SRS Certificate can be found in the Course Catalog.

 

Scholarships and Financial Aid

 

  • Our top masters applicants are eligible for the Political Engagement Scholarship that cover up to 50% of tuition for the duration of the degree program. There is no separate application for these awards. Students simply indicate interest in funding via the “Financial Assistance” section in the online admission application.
  • Northeastern University’s Student Financial Services Office administers graduate financial aid. Federal financial aid and alternative educational loan programs — Interested applicants must complete a FAFSA form.
  • Veterans: The Yellow Ribbon GI Education Enhancement Program is a provision of the Post-9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008. For more information about Program and Eligibility please visit the Yellow Ribbon Program website
