This place-based project engages the arts and humanities to physically preserve and reconstruct a thriving and inclusive Commons at the site of a historic Black church in Cambridge, MA.  In this legacy-rich effort, we are helping to protect St. Augustine’s African Orthodox Church from gentrification by reawakening its role as a community space for the arts, memory, healing, belonging, and sanctuary.  We collaborate with the Black History in Action nonprofit in this work.
