Polcha awarded post-doctoral fellowship at Penn

Ph.D. candidate Elizabeth Polcha has been awarded the Barra Postdoctoral Fellowship at the McNeil Center in Early American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania.  She will begin her two-year appointment at the McNeil Center in Fall 2019. Elizabeth is currently completing a dissertation project titled, “Redacting Desire: The Sexual Politics of Colonial Science in the Eighteenth-Century Atlantic World,” (directed by Professor Elizabeth Maddock Dillon) which explores the centrality of women of color in the development of networks of culture, literature, and scientific knowledge in the early Atlantic world.

This year, Elizabeth holds an ACLS/Mellon Dissertation Completion Fellowship.
