K.J. Rawson, Associate Professor of English and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies and Coordinator of Digital Integration Teaching Initiative, has published an article entitled “Button Rhetorics” in Transgender Studies Quarterly. Using the example of a “TS’S AGAINST RACISM” button, pictured above and attributed to Mirha Soleil-Ross and Xanthra MacKay’s genderpress, Rawson argues that buttons can play a key role in rhetorical activism for the queer community.
