
Assistant Teaching Professor of Spanish and Portuguese; Director of the Spanish Language Program
Dr. Cuenca graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst with a degree in English and Spanish Language Teaching, holds a Master’s in Hispanic Studies from Boston College, and a PhD in Hispanic Language and Literature from Boston University. He has taught Spanish and Portuguese languages and literature at several universities, where he has focused on the use of film in the language-learning classroom. His field of research lies at the intersection of literary/film theory and political philosophy and focuses specifically on the (de-)construction of the fictions of First and Third Worlds as textual functions of mass media.
