Health, Humanities, and Society Student Research Highlight
Jade Green has been researching the location of midwives in seventeenth and eighteenth-century Boston in an intergenerational research project overseen by professor Christopher Parsons. Joining the Birth of Boston team, she began her research by focusing on the story of Zipporah, a free African-American woman who worked as a midwife in the colonial city and became an important member of the free and enslaved African-American community.
