“This co-op changed me in ways I am still discovering. I am more confident, more organized, and more certain than ever that I want to pursue a career in law.”
– Sara Ellis
Co-op Term: Spring 2026
Position: Children’s Justice Unit co-op
Employer: Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office
During Sara’s time at the Attorney General’s Office, she worked on many projects and became an important part of the team. She juggled multiple roles, including preparing materials for stakeholder meetings, coordinating panel logistics, and drafting case research. She worked on meaningful projects for Boston Public Schools and transition-aged youth.
She worked on multiple projects, including stakeholder meetings advocating for the FYI housing voucher for transition-aged youth, training events for the Addressing Hate in Schools and Sports initiative, and a guidance document for school athletic staff. She also supported investigations into restraint and seclusion practices in Boston Public Schools and worked on a SNAP data demand case.
Sara grew into a confident, organized professional who could manage many projects at once, even when the pace was out of her control. Her law and policy coursework gave her a strong foundation, and she learned that policy advocacy depends as much on timing and relationship-building as on the strength of an argument. She also found that a government office can be collaborative, and being treated as a true contributor made her more invested in her work.
