Prof. Laurel Leff, core faculty in Jewish Studies, has published an article in American Journalism about Edward R. Murrow and his broadcasts during the Holocaust, recognizing both his importance and his limitations. Prof. Leff’s book Well Worth Saving: American Universities’ Life-and-Death Decisions on Refugees from Nazi Europe, which tells the story of the Emergency Committee in Aid of Displaced German Scholars, of which Murrow was a part, has just been named a 2020 National Jewish Book Award Finalist.
