On April 3, 2024, flyers protesting the war in Gaza and calling for Northeastern University’s divestment from Israel appeared in a number of Northeastern University classrooms bearing the Northeastern logo and title “Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week.” The individual or group responsible for circulating these flyers is unconnected to the University’s Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Committee or the activities of Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week. The students, faculty, and staff responsible for organizing the University’s Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week events are disturbed by the misuse of our name and the misrepresentation of our programming. The flyers were immediately removed by the Facilities Department, and the University and the NUPD are investigating the matter. Last night we concluded a successful Holocaust and Genocide Awareness Week and remain committed to our mission of education and memorialization at Northeastern.
