American Sign Language–English Interpreting, BS
Graduated in 2018
Monica Marotta always had a passion for performance. After taking beginner ASL classes in both middle and high school, she wanted to continue her education in sign language alongside the Deaf Community.
American Sign Language & Interpreting Education
Monica took "Performance Interpreting," which deepened her knowledge of ASL and showed her how to approach different forms of texts such as poetry.
She participated in NU's theater program and found a creative outlet that refueled her love for musical theater.
Monica created a video to discuss her interest in learning from and alongside the deaf community, and her ASL-IE coursework and experiences.
She worked with the Learning Center for the Deaf and engaged in real-world interpreting with experienced interpreters.
She graduated in 2018.
Monica currently works as a Teacher Assistant at the Millneck Manor Deaf School in NY.
