Paige DePasquale
Sociology PhD Student
Paige joined Northeastern’s Sociology Department in the Fall of 2023. She holds a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology along with a minor in Spanish from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Additionally, she completed a M.A. in Sociology from the University of New Hampshire. Her research interests broadly include urban sociology, race, and mental health. She has conducted research on the intersection of gentrification, race, and historical sociology via utilizing her construction of a racial gentrification index. She hopes that her index will better aid in assessing gentrification as a racialized process and the distinct effects it has on communities of color. She hopes to incorporate mental health into her analysis of gentrification in order to gain insight into how the gentrification process directly and indirectly impacts the mental health of people of color in and surrounding areas undergoing gentrification
