Yuntong Ji

Sociology PhD Student

Yuntong joined the Sociology PhD program in the Fall of 2023. She holds a B.A. in Sociology from the Beijing University of Technology. She then completed an M.S. in Management Finance from Durham University and an M.A. in Sociology from Boston University. Before entering the program, she gained three years of work experience in a financial non-profit organization and an internet company in China. Her research broadly focuses on health and the elderly, gender and labor, and social networks. She is a data analyst. Her previous research has examined the employment of young people working for platform companies and the social integration of older adults. She hopes to understand how individuals are shaped by their prior life experiences, which may be constrained by social context and social identity, and how they respond to inequalities in this situation to advance their needs.
