Lorna Swanson
Visiting Associate Professor
Lorna Swanson’s research focuses on using law reforms, inclusive processes and emerging technologies to render institutions agile, equitable and effective in responding to changes in climate, technology, demographics and power dynamics. She has advised lawmakers in designing disaster management authorities, establishing multinational health frameworks and improving access to justice. Her current work focuses on increasing the likelihood that development projects serve the public interest. Throughout her career, Lorna has contributed to law reform initiatives in a wide range of areas, including: increasing access to education, health services, and housing; reducing discrimination; facilitating regulatory compliance; combatting corruption; reducing pre-trial detention duration; redesigning lawmaking processes to render them more evidence-based, transparent and inclusive; establishing monitoring processes; and protecting vulnerable ecosystems.
