Requirements

In our program, you’ll receive a thorough grounding in historical methods, sources, and modes of writing. You’ll take 32 semester hours before you graduate: required history and methodology courses, public history electives,  humanities or general history electives, fieldwork course, and history research seminar. We like to stay fresh, so our elective courses change frequently and often correspond with public history projects our faculty are working on. Students also have the opportunity to earn a certificate in Digital Humanities, and can work with professors in media, journalism, design, and English as they do so.

We offer courses in the late afternoons and evening to accommodate internships and work schedules, and we work closely with students in the program to develop schedules and materials that correspond to their interests and needs.
