Deanna Schwartz, ’22 has been awarded the 2020 Ruderman Scholarship.
Deanna Schwartz is a rising junior majoring in journalism and minoring in Jewish studies, English, and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies. She is Managing Editor of The Huntington News and active in Northeastern Hillel.
Deanna decided to minor in Jewish Studies in order to continue to examine her Jewish identity and learn about Judaism in a new way. She is especially interested in Jewish pop culture and modern identities, and Jewish representation in the media. She has also taken the opportunity to learn about the Holocaust with Professors Leff and Bormann.
Through her Journalism classes at Northeastern, her Jewish Studies classes, and her affiliation with Hillel, Deanna has realized that she enjoys reporting on the Jewish community and shedding light on Jewish issues. She hopes to pursue a career in Jewish journalism.
