Northeastern’s Global Asian Studies program will be hosting its final “After Area Studies” event of the semester on April 10th! We are honored to have Paula Chakravartty, a James Weldon Johnson Professor by the Office of the Provost at NYU and author of “Race, Empire, and the Crisis of the Subprime”, as our keynote speaker. Her current research focuses on racial capitalism and global media infrastructures, and migrant labor mobility and justice. Chakravartty’s lecture will be titled “Asian/American Feminist Collaboration in Ethnonationalist Times.”
After Area Studies events are a great opportunity to network with professionals in the field and learn more about topics and issues in Asia. The event will also offer an opportunity to ask questions and engage in a stimulating discussion with Paula Chakravartty and fellow attendees. We will also offer free snacks and a book raffle during the event.
