Exhibit Opening and Panel Discussion: Overcaste: Art and Liberation in the South Asian Diaspora
January 24, 2026
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Registration is required for this event.

This panel brings together artists, scholars, and community organizers to examine caste as a transnational system within the South Asian diaspora. Grounded in anti-caste and caste abolitionist frameworks, the conversation explores how art, archival practice, and lived experience make visible forms of caste oppression and resistance often obscured in policy and academic discourse, while reflecting on solidarity, co-optation, and the ethical challenges of sustaining anti-caste work in the diaspora. Featuring panelists Anita Lal, Aatika Singh, and Manu Kaur, moderated by Dr. Sasha Sabherwal. If you would like to learn more about this exhibit, you can click here.
