Qualitative Survey and Focus Group Data Collection Tools
Over the past decade, the Dukakis Center has developed several survey questionnaires and focus group instruments to collect data from SYEP youth participants, their parents, and employers at each job site. These tools have been tested repeatedly over the past decade to develop a set of meaningful metrics that capture a 360 degree view of the program through the lens of youth voice, parent perceptions, and employer feedback. Cities can use all or parts of these vetted tools to assess different aspects of their programs each summer.
Boston SYEP Youth Survey Data Comparison Dashboard
This dashboard can be used to explore survey data showing how participants of the Boston SYEP experienced the program as well as what work habits, communication skills, academic aspirations, and other measures of well-being changed over time. Cities can use the qualitative instruments above to collect similar data and compare their youth responses to those of the Boston SYEP.
