Qianqian Zhang-Wu, Assistant Professor of English and Director of Multilingual Writing, published a peer-reviewed commentary titled, “Rethinking Chinese International Students in American Higher Education: ‘Raceless’ and ‘Linguistically Incompetent’?” in the Educational Research and Development Journal 2021 Special Issue, Dismantling Systems of Racism Against Asians and Asian-Americans, Volume 42, Issue 2. Zhang-Wu problematizes racist stereotypes around Chinese international students and urges American higher education to provide better training and resources to support the needs of the growing Chinese international student population.
