Global Englishes

This year, the English department is investigating the teaching, writing, and study of English in global and multilingual forms through a series of events, including talks, readings, and workshops. 

Our discussions will focus on investigating the relationship of globalization and global literature to the structures of colonialism and imperialism, and on studying modes of English language, and literature, and culture that are not centered in the Anglo-American context.

We aim to develop a vision of English as a pluriversal field open to translingualism, diversity, and  intersecting local, national, and transnational traditions.
