Cara Michell Atlas of Black Psychogeogrphies
Emily Cousens is an Assistant Professor in Politics and International Relations at the Northeastern London campus. Emily’s research expertise are in trans feminist philosophy and the history of feminism. Emily received a BA/Leverhulme grant for their 2021-2023 project: Second Wave Trans Feminism’s in Print. Their book, Trans Feminist Epistemologies in the US Second Wave, was published by Palgrave in August 2023. Emily’s research has been published in Gender & History, Angelaki and History Workshop Journal. It is forthcoming in Sexualities and L’Espirit Créateur. Shalini Matharage is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science at Northeastern University, specializing in international relations and comparative politics. She has a strong background and keen interest in international migration, refugee recognition, and disaster risk reduction. During the 2023–2024 academic cycle, Shalini gained valuable experience as a Research Assistant on the Forced Migration & Policy Responses in an Era of Global Change Tier I Project. She also works on a Japan Foundation grant focused on disaster-related social and green infrastructure in Japan. In addition, she has served as a Teaching Assistant for courses in International Relations, Globalization, and International Affairs, and she is the primary program assistant for The Twenty-First Century City: Tokyo and Kyoto Dialogue. Cara Michell is an Assistant Professor of Race and Social Justice in the Built Environment. She is an urban planner with a background in sculpture from Princeton University. Cara holds a Masters in Urban Planning from Harvard University. She was a Senior Urban Planner and Associate at WXY Studio in New York. Cara’s conceptual art has been exhibited at MoMA PS1 and with Intelligent Mischief at the Boston University Art Galleries. In 2015, Cara co-founded and co-chaired the inaugural Black in Design conference with Courtney Sharpe and Harvard’s GSD AASU. Learn more about her work here.
